Dentures in Randwick
People often have memories of dentures sitting in a glass of water on the nightstand of their grandparents’ home. Modern dentures have come a long way since then, using a variety of materials that are both durable and aesthetically pleasing. At Randwick Dental Clinic, we offer full or partial dentures as either a short-term or long-term solution, depending on your needs and goals.
Who Needs Dentures?
Dentures are a removable restoration for those who have one or more missing teeth. If a tooth has been broken or knocked out, an implant or fixed bridge can often take months to complete while we wait for bone or gums to heal. A denture can be a short-term solution during that time, so that you never look like you’re missing a tooth.
In cases where teeth are moving a lot due to bone loss or other issues, and total extraction is needed, we can have the dentures prepared before we do the extraction. We’ll take a mould of your teeth, choose the colour for the dentures and have them fabricated at the lab. When they’re ready, we will schedule your extraction. Then we’ll extract the teeth under sedation and fit your dentures at the same visit—so you come in with teeth and leave with teeth!
Some athletes who have lost a tooth playing the sport opt to have a denture created until their athletic career is over. Then, when the danger of losing additional teeth has subsided, they’ll opt for a permanent solution like an implant or bridge.
We can even make dentures for children.
A Private Solution
Modern dentures can be cleaned by removing them and brushing and flossing them. You can sleep with them in, so no one need ever see you without your teeth, or even know that you have dentures. Denture material is also much more attractive than decades ago, and they look totally natural.
